Common name: Hockeystick Pencilfish.

Species: Nannostomus eques.

Habitat: South America. Inhabits sluggish tributaries, small rivers, and swampy zones, especially in areas where aquatic vegetation grows densely or with submerged woody structures and leaf litter.

Potential size: 3.5cm.

Social behaviour: Very peaceful schooling fish, best kept in groups of 5 or 6+. Ideal for the small-fish communtiy aquarium.

Food: Flake, micro-granules, frozen food, live food etc.
