Common name: Hornwort.

Description: A dark green plant with dense whorls of bristly foliage on brittle stems. For the most part, the plant floats just beneath the surface of the water, but in winter it sinks to the bottom of the pond forming winter buds. This plant is excellent for ponds which do not receive much sun or deeper ponds.
